Convergence is a cultural initiative aimed at creating a shared space for dialogue among people and ideas. It is grounded in the conviction that “dialogue is very important for one’s maturity, because in relation with other people, relations with other culture (…) one grows; grows, matures” (Pope Francis). Without dialogue, there can be no peace; individuals are reduced to labels, and social groups become isolated bubbles.
Without dialogue, truth is perceived as a personal possession to be defended with fear or anger, rather than as a "living" entity, which is fragmented in every human cultural effort, waiting to be (re)discovered and developed. The initial idea came from a conversation between two fellow academics and friends, Prof. Maria Ubiali (University of Cambridge) and Prof. Giuseppe Pezzini (University of Oxford).
It is now led by a group of academics and professionals with different interests and expertise, different political views and different sensitivities, sharing a desire of a common journey of research.
