Convergence is a cultural initiative designed to foster a shared space for dialogue among people and ideas. It is rooted in the belief that 'dialogue is very important for one’s maturity, because in relation with other people, relations with other cultures (…) one grows; grows, matures' (Pope Francis). Without dialogue for peace, individuals are reduced to labels, and social groups become isolated bubbles.
In the absence of dialogue, truth is seen as a personal possession to be guarded with fear or anger, rather than as a 'living' entity, fragmented in every human cultural effort, waiting to be (re)discovered and developed. The initial concept originated from a conversation between two fellow academics and friends, Prof. Maria Ubiali (University of Cambridge) and Prof. Giuseppe Pezzini (University of Oxford).
Now, this initiative is driven by a group of academics and professionals with diverse interests, expertise, political views, and sensitivities, united by a commitment to academic collaboration and a shared desire for a common journey of research.
